Prayer is an act of communication with a higher spiritual power. This spiritual practice is fouond in almost every culture. Spirituality is not limited to a certain religion but as an experience shared by all people - a sense or belief that there is something greater than ourselves (Spencer, 2012).
Evidence suggests that some spiritual beliefs and prayer practices are linked to enhanced coping, and health and wellbeing (jantos & Kiat, 2007).
According to neuroscientists, the frontal and parietal cortex are linked with spiritual practices such as prayer (MIller et al, 2019; Newberg et al 2015). As prefrontal cortex plays an important role in emotional functioning including fear (Kaldewij et al, 2021), and parietal cortex integrates somatosensory, visualisation and language (Cosset, 2018; Konczak, 2010), it is perhaps no surprise how prayer could support us on many levels. This may also help to explain how manifestation and visualisation work.
Prayer as in "an earnest hope or wish" (Oxford Languages) is powerful.
